Charles P. Higdon is the son of Nettie and Leonard Higdon. Leonard worked as a chemist in Oak Ridge, Tennessee on the once secret Manhattan Project during World War II. Charles married Nancy Lawson in 1978. His paternal grandfather was William Thomas Higdon who married Mary Elmira “Dolly" Arp.
