Eugene Smith was the twelfth and last child of George Allen Smith and Bertha Belle Clemons. Eugene married Georgetta Johnston in 1958. They are the parents of five children. Eugene's Higdon connection is through his mother's grandparents, John Zachary Clemons and Mary Juletta Higdon, granddaughter of Ignatious Higdon and Mildred E. Dyson, early emigrants from Maryland to Grayson County, Kentucky.
