This Higdon gristmill was located on what is now Ellijay Road in Macon County, North Carolina. Check Higdon gristmill in the Photo Gallery for a story of interest.

The day the original lighthouse was toppled by ocean wave erosion, there happened to be a photographer at the site, and this is the photographic record of the lighthouse falling into the waves.
