This headstone, of the approximately 50 headstones still left in the old Bardstown Municipal Cemetery, a.k.a. the Old Pioneer Cemetery, is by far one of the most legible. Mary Jane McCown was 24 years of age at her death. She was the consort (wife) of John S. McCown. While in good shape overall, the angled break at the bottom makes it difficult to remount on a standard stone base, or directly into the ground, so it have been left flat.
