In an even earlier issue of the Higdon Family Newsletter, Number 46, dated October 1975, Frank B. Higdon, Jr. shared information about his family line. This issue says that the names and dates were taken from a family Bible; there are some differences when compared to the 1984 newsletter article. The presentation below of the data of 1984 with that of 1975 is an example of how genealogical data may change over time.
Deciding which facts are more accurate is the kind of work professional genealogists do. However, it seems that sharing conflicting data outweighs the value of not sharing any information at all. All data discrepancies are displayed in magenta type.

Your web states that Samuel Terrell Higdon had a daughter Mary J. L. Higdon born in 1812.
This is incorrect (and has been corrected, see near top of this page). Mary Jane Eliza Higdon was born August 31, 1842 in Houston County, Texas;
died July 27, 1870 in Jackson County, Texas.
She married James Knox Polk Wilkins December 27, 1863 in Jackson County, Texas.
She is the daughter of Ezekiel Higdon born in 1805 in Georgia.
Ezekiel is the son of Samuel Terrell Higdon.
I descend from Ezekiel and Mary Jane Eliza.
