National Archive - Morning Session

Previous

National Archive

We were met by our guide and taken for a short lecture about what we would find available here. After the lecture, we got our Research cards. We spent some time on their computers looking up genealogy questions. I had a question about a Florida Confederate soldier, ? Higdon. He was captured, interned in New Jersey, and died in the POW camp there from the measles. A research assistant had an answer in a few quick minutes. Daniel A Higdon, enlisted in Lake City, FL at 18. He was born in Dublin county, Georgia, so I need to research what line he is from next.

At right, main entrance to research facilities at the National Archive Building.
