Violet Dillard Hunsucker is the daughter of Alice and Cleveland Dillard. Violet descended from Americus Higdon of North Carolina. She married Daniel Dewey Hunsucker.
Violet graduated with a degree in education from Western Carolina University. She obtained a master's degree from Duke University. She taught school for almost 40 years; four of those years, she taught in Cuba. She was active in the National Science Foundation and the Sierra Club. A gentle person and avid animal lover, she gave many a stray dog or cat a home.
