Mary Carmel and Tom had different attitudes toward money. Tom, after leaving the Army Air Force as a Captain, became used to earning income in chuncks as various flying contracts were completed. He’d spend the money, and then tighten his belt until he found and finished the next job. Mary Carmel could not adjust to this ‘boom or bust’ mentality and in her accounting, that was the problem that resulted in their divorce in 1962. The date of this photo is unknown.
