Martha Higdon Tidwell is the second of two children born to Mildred and Reece Higdon, at the Gorgas Hosipital in Ancon, Balboa, Panama Canal Zone, while her father was working for the Corp of Engineers. Martha lived a wonderful and fun childhood growing up in Bakersfield, CA (in the same house) before leaving for college.
Martha's paternal grandparents are William Thomas and Mary Elmire Arp
Higdon of Higdon Store, GA. Martha has two children, Jeffrey Robert
Tidwell of Dallas, TX, and Dawn Elizabeth Tidwell Tschirhart, (married
to David) of Dale, TX, and mother of Martha's only grandchild, Mark
Andrew Tschirhart, and one brother, William R. (Bill) Higdon of Moon,
VA, (married to Janice M. Higdon), both past presidents and current
members of HFA.
After graduating high school, Martha attened Arizona State University in
Tempe, AZ, but this was interrupted by her marriage and the subsequent
and very frequent moves around the US and the world. She lived for a
time in Japan (where her daughter was born) and then relocated back to
California while her husband served in Vietnam. Her son, Jeff, was born
in Bakersfield, BA, during that time. After returning to the US and
living in multiple Northern California cities, she returned to school at
California State Univeristy at Long Beach, studying Computer Science
while residing in Huntington Beach, CA.
Shortly thereafter, Martha made her home in Humble, TX, Louisvile, KY,
finally settling in Plano, TX. Over the course of many years, Martha has
had multiple careers as a farmer, equestrian, retail owner, marketing
executive, and is currently working on-site at PepsiCo in Plano, TX as a
Relationship Manager overseeing the contract hiring of all IT personnel
for PepsiCo and Frito Lay.
Martha loves tennis, all types of equestrian events, biking, pilates and
yoga. Martha is a life time member of the United States Pony Club and a
former Board of Governor of the wonderful organization. "I am looking
forward to mastering my recent birthday present from my grandson and
daughter, a Wii Fit Plus! My grandson hooked it all up and now I just
need to learn how to use it and get in better shape!
