Charles E. Higdon, who grew up in the Higdon's Store area of Fannin County, Georgia, has been an avid supporter of Truett-McConnell College at Epworth, Georgia, since its inception in September, 1992. The interest of the Higdon family in Truett-McConnell College dates back to 1946 when it was founded in Cleveland, Georgia. Charles's brother, Mr. Walter Higdon served on the first Board of Trustees.
Their sister, Bonnie Higdon Reaves, was instrumental in funding and setting up the Higdon Family Trust, the income of which provides scholarships for students at the Bonnie Higdon Reaves Campus at Epworth College. The Charles E. Higdon Science Building was formally dedicated September 28, 1997.
