As of the last U.S. Census in 2010, there are over 9,000 people living in this county with the family name of Higdon. Those of us who research genealogy, particularly Higdon genealogy, believe that all these Higdon are distant cousins descending from the earliest three colonial Higdons living in Virginia and Maryland in the early 1600s. Karan Higdon is one of our distant cousins.
It’s easy to see why Karan Higdon (22), at right, is often photographed running the ball as a back for the Western Michigan University Wolverines football team. He is not only fast, he is also strong, strong enough to literally jump over his opponents if he can’t run through them (see final image on right). In 2017 he set, or tied, a number of WMU football records.
If all goes well, we should all see him running the ball in professional football soon after he finishes 2018, his senior year, playing at WMU. We wish him the best of luck in what should be a marquee NFL career down the road.
