Woodrow B. Lewis, December 1950 North KoreaJo Higdon Dalmolin sent us a photocopied picture of her cousin Woodrow B. Lewis along with a note that he wrote in 1993.

Dear Jo,

This is a picture of me in North Korea taken in Dec. 1950 at Yon-Po Airfield near Hungnam. We were giving air support to the 1st Marine Division who were fighting them south from the Chosin Reservoir.

As you can see, it was cold - as low as -25 degrees and we were at sea level! The division was 3,000 or more feet higher.

I was a Captain at that time…

Woodrow Lewis is the son of Doris Tidwell "Pinkie" Higdon and Winston Lewis. Jo notes that Woody retired as a Lt. Colonel.
